A close call, The Pit River is the shiny black in the background.

Icy roads and a dog lead to this rollover accident in Bieber. About 5:30 PM Friday, December 2, 2005, a young lady was involved in this incident which occurred on the South side of the Pit River Bridge on Highway 299, right at Mike Schroeder's Auto Repair.

The victim was apparantly uninjured, but shaken and upset by the accident. She stated that she swerved to avoid a dog, and the road which was very slippery due to freezing rain caused her to lose control.  As the picture shows, the truck landed on it's back narrowly avoiding the Pit River. Another few feet and this could have been much more serious.

Don't let this happen to you. Be aware of so called "Black Ice" which is very common during the type of freezing rain we had today. This time, the driver was lucky that she was not injured, and the accident happened during a period of heavy (for Bieber) traffic. Any other time, an accident like this could go undiscovered for a long time. This one occurred only a few feet from Mike Schroeder who was working at his business at the time, and he didn't even know it happened. It was passers by who notified emergency units.
