The following was read by Rev Jeff Bidwell of Bieber

Born in Bieber California on September 4, 1911 to Timothy John and Bella Herrick Kennedy, she was the fourth of five children. She was raised, educated and continued to live in Bieber until her death at 94 years of age.

Erma made her home with her brother, Marlin, until her marriage to Robert Francis Conley on December 22, 1956.  Frank preceded her in death on August 19, 1964

Again she shared her home with her brother until his death, December 20, 1985.

Erma and Marlin had a ranch in Bieber and for about 5 years, a ranch near Canby.

While involved in the usual work of a cattle ranch, she worked as a cook for the Bieber Elementary School for several years.

After becoming a widow, she was employed as a clerk-telegrapher for the Great Northern Railroad in Nubieber where she also mastered the "key" using the morse code for communicating with the railroad.

Erma had been curator for the Big Valley Historical Museum for the past 20 years.  She truly enjoyed greeting and visiting with all who came in, giving them guided tours through the treasures of local history, genealogy and antiques.

In 1992 she published a cookbook written in her own hand using both new and old recepies and remedies. There were only 100 copies made and she enjoyed giving them to her family and friends, each autographed to them personally. She always enjoyed cooking and sharing her food with everyone.

Erma passed away at the skilled nursing facility at Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River Mills on January 16, 2006 where she had been for the past 4 months.

Survivors include her brother in law Joe Potter of Lookout, cousins Bill and Emma Walker and family of Cottonwood, and Murial Brown and family of Redding, nieces and nephews Jeanine Potter Primorae of Alturas, sons Roger and Kevin and families, Rick and Vicki Potter of Chugrak Alaska, Sherrill and Don Boyd and family of Klamath Falls, Patricia Kenyon and family of Red Bluff.

Memorials can be sent to the Big Valley Museum, Bieber

To celebrate Erma's life I (The Rev. Jeff Bidwell) thought she would be best described by the things she loved.  When I began compiling the list I remembered what an extraordinary woman Erma was.

I'm sure as I have mentioned some of the things it has triggered in your memory othe things about Erma that you would like to share and I would like to give that opportunity to do that now..................
