Lassen County

SHERIFF

VISION-ACCOUNTABILITY-LEADERSHIP

The Lassen County Sheriff's Office should not be a service that is provided to the community by the County. The Sheriff's Office should be a PART of the community. As Your Sheriff, I will establish better communication and interaction with our partner agencies and the communities we serve. In order to effectively accomplish this I will:

  • Establish a SHERIFF'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE in all the communities served by the Sheriff's Office. I will meet on a regular basis with all these committees. This will allow quality and effective communication to take place between the citizens and the Sheriff's Department.

  • Establish a RIDE-ALONG PROGRAM. I will encourage members of the community and law enforcement officers from other agencies to participate in our Ride-Along Program. It will give the general public to learn about the Sheriff's Department, it's personnel, policies and procedures.

  • Establish a Lassen County Sheriff's Department EXPLORER POST. This program I will allow youth in Lassen County the opportunity to become educated in law enforcement operations, to interest them in possible law enforcement careers, and to build positive relationships between the youth in our communities and the Sheriff's Department.

  • I will seek out qualified Peace Officers from the DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. This will foster a positive relationship between out partner agencies as well as augment the available personnel within the Lassn County Sheriff's Department.

CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMITS

Lassen County currently has less than 300 Concealed Weapons Permits issued for a total population of over 30,000 residents. This is less than 1% of the population and is below the statewide average. The current Sheriff's policy is to allow input from Deputies  and staff to determine who is issued a permit. As your Sheriff, I will guarantee  that if you are not otherwise excluded by law and meet the requirements as set forth by the state:

YOU WILL BE ISSUED A PERMIT.
