Some time before 1:30 AM Tuesday Morning CHP Officer J.D. Mostoufi out or Redding responded to an accident involving a cow hit on Bieber Lookout Road just South of the Lassen Modoc county line.
After clearing the accident involving the cow, Officer Mostoufi decided to investigate the scene and discovered that the fence which apparently had let the cows on the road had been damaged by something else. He discovered a rolled over pickup truck in a field and immedietly called for medical aid at 1:28 AM. Within minutes, he found a victim of the crash beside the pickup truck who was dead of an apparent neck injury and advised the ambulance to reduce response from code 3 to code 2.
The field is very dark, so it took some time for Officer Mostoufi to discover another dead victim who had been ejected about 150 feet from the vehicle.
Neither victim was a local resident.
The accident occurred very near the same curve in the road that Lookout Resident Robert Pauley was killed last year. CHP and other officials remained at the scene until about 8 AM because evidence had to be collected and bodies removed. Both alcohol and marijuanna were found.
