On September 25, 2006 the Lassen County Narcotics Task Force flew a recon mission for marijuana gardens with P.J. Helicopters out of Red Bluff. The funds used to fly the mission is supplied by the United States Forest Service through a grant given to the Lassen County Narcotics Task Force for the purpose of discovering marijuana gardens in Lassen County.
During the recon mission a large marijuana garden was located in the Horse Creek area, which is just south of the Little Valley.
On September 26, 2006 the Lassen County Narcotics Task Force- assisted by the Lassen County / Susanville Police Department inter agency S.W.A.T. Team, Bureau of Land Management, C.A.M.P. (Campaign Against Marijuana Plantations), and P.J. Helicopters secured and dismantled the marijuana garden.
No suspects were found in the garden at time of entry. A total of 4,138 marijuana plants and 16 pounds of processed marijuana ready for sales were seized from the garden.
On September 26, 2006 the Lassen County Narcotics Task Force- assisted by C.A.M.P., and P.J. Helicopters discovered a second marijuana garden in the Pit River Canyon area, which is approximately one mile south from the first marijuana garden found.
On September 27, 2006 the Lassen County Narcotics Task Force- assisted by the Lassen County / Susanville Police Department inter agency S.W.A.T. Team, Bureau of Land Management, Shasta County Marijuana Eradication Team, United States Forest Service, California Highway Patrol, and Redding Air secured and dismantled the marijuana garden.
No suspects were found in the garden at time of entry. A total of 3,978 marijuana plants and 300 pounds of processed marijuana ready for sales were seized from the garden.
The street value of both garden reached approximately $27,948,000.00
