Mr Greg Scott, the Lassen County Juvenile Program Co-ordinator for
the Superior Court recently sent letters to various school officials in
the county advising them that oral arguments before the Supreme Court
of the State of California will held in Redding on October 4th and 5th.
2005. Students throughout the county who are interested in law
will be invited to observe the arguments.
The original invitation is from the Superior Court of Shasta county
where the arguments are to be held. Letters were sent to county
school superintendents in neighboring counties advising them that the
event will take place. Lassen County has 144 spaces reserved
which
should be adequate to seat students and adult chaperons.
This is a marvelous opportunity to introduce high school students to
the operations of our supreme court, but unless action is taken by our
school authorities, it will not happen. Parents who are
interested in this event should contact their school district and
advise them of their interest.
The appropriate person to call in the Big Valley District is the Big
Valley Unified School District Principal/Superentendant at 530 294-5366
