Lions Club International is a word wide service organization with a chapter in Big Valley. Most vally-ites are familiar with the annual Crab Feed sponsored by the group and the many other community projects sponsored by them such as sports sponsorships, road cleanups, easter egg hunts etc.
The clubs are held together by an organization (chain of command),
and the various levels of organization interact with each other to
discuss ideas and to keep the Lions movement on track.
Big Valley Lions Club is a member of clubs in nearby communities known as a ZONE. Zones are organized into Regions and Regions into Districts. The local district essentially covers most of Northern California.
Although our Zone Chairman, Walt Libel from Burney has visited Big Valley Lions several time in the past few years, the visit of Paul Holcomb, the District Governor was quite an event, at least for Lions.
Lion Holcomb, as well as meeting local Lions reviewed and emphasesed the service duties of Lions International........
Big Valley Lions get up early so it was quite an effort for an outsider to make it to the 7:30 AM Thursday meeting. The pain was mitigated by a nice breakfast which was part pot luck and part catered by Laurie Valequet who has quite a service reputation as well as a cooking reputation. Laurie was one of last years Citizens of the year as voted for by the Lions.
Big Valley Lions Club reminds you that application for new membership is always welcome.
