I'm a former resident of Big Valley and wondered if you have some details about the Big Valley Days celebration. Rumor has it on July 10th but I haven't found anything written about it. The B.V. Class of 1970 is planning to get together that weekend wherever the festivities will be held. I assume that is still in Adin. Your Big Valley News would be a great spot to get the word out to meet near the hall at Adin park.
My Dad, Howard Henning, takes great pride being instrumental in organizing the first Big Valley Days celebration sometime in the '70's. There was a Jr. rodeo in 1975 as part of the activities, too. Sure like to see the schedule for this year. Do you know if there is a website to check?

The Golden Gate Star Party will return to Big Valley for the 3rd year. This year the dates are Saturday July 10 through Wednesday July 14. These dates are chosen to be nights of no moon, meaning dark skys, and that's why these astronomers love it here.
2008 was a year of record wildland fires throughout California and despite the smoky sky, there were still some superb viewing nights. 2009 featured a freak monsoon like rain and wind storm. They are hoping for this to be a perfect year.
The party will convene on the Albough's Frosty Acres
ranch again. By nature they are night creatures, they sleep during the
day but we do see small groups of them foraging for food and drink in
the daytime.
If you are not familiar with the star party, Big Valley
News has an article about it HERE!
